At Procter & Gamble, we want our brands to be a force for good. In this spirit, we strive to create products that enrich the lives of our consumers in every part of the world. One important way in which we fulfill this purpose is by caring for the world we live in as well as providing sustainable sourcing and manufacturing solutions.
Sustainable manufacturing is defined as the creation of manufactured products through economically-sound processes that minimize negative environmental impacts while conserving energy and natural resources. P&G is committed to this at every stage of the manufacturing process–from design through production and packaging–while still delivering the cleaning results you expect.
For Cascade, achieving sustainable manufacturing means reducing energy and water use, cutting emissions from manufacturing processes, and reducing physical waste.
Manufacturing Efficiency
Sustainable manufacturing starts at our manufacturing plants. We aim to have our equipment running in the most energy-efficient way possible. This includes identifying, minimizing and eliminating waste from the manufacturing process. In addition, whenever possible, we incorporate renewable energy sources that can help optimize our manufacturing processes. We continue to work toward powering all of our Home Care plants with 100% renewable energy.
Sustainable Packaging
At Cascade, our sustainability goals are meant to ensure we are maximizing the renewable content profile of all our products and their packaging. A renewable material is any material made by natural processes at a rate comparable to its rate of consumption. In other words, it’s a natural resource that can be replenished as quickly as it is used.
Cascade aims to both increase our use of renewable materials and to ensure we source our materials in a responsible, sustainable manner. Our goal is to use 100% renewable or recycled materials in our products so there’s zero consumer or manufacturing waste that goes to landfill. This is called zero waste manufacturing.
Eco-friendly Packaging
At Cascade, we aim to make packaging that is both attractive and functional. But we know that you buy Cascade for the outstanding cleaning power inside the package. Moving forward, our goal is to use recycled materials and eco-friendly packaging, made with 100% renewable or recyclable materials that have a low environmental impact. We also encourage consumer recycling efforts, supporting both the Closed Loop Fund and The Recycling Partnership, two organizations that focus on increasing the availability of recycled materials through improved recycling programs across the US.
Our Commitment to the Future
While Cascade is making great strides to meet our long-term environmental sustainability vision, our work isn’t finished. We will continue to drive innovation while reinforcing our commitment to sustainable sourcing in every phase of production. By reducing water consumption and energy use, we reduce our overall environmental impact and increase our sustainability. Our daily efforts to conserve resources will continue to make a difference.
